Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced US-based PLC Controls Engineer with three years of industry expertise to join our team at Cornerstone Automation. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from conception to commissioning, across different industries. As a PLC Controls Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers’ success by providing advanced troubleshooting skills and delivering top-notch control solutions. Your responsibilities will include control system design, reading and creating AutoCAD drawings, startup and commissioning at customer sites, and developing technical solutions. Our engineers enjoy a high level of autonomy, allowing them to make decisions and shape their projects. You can expect a mix of in-house work and on-site visits, offering a diverse and rewarding experience.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with peers to develop innovative solutions for industrial automation projects.
- Work on a variety of projects, spanning different industries and phases.
- Interface with clients to understand their unique needs and expectations.
- Provide on-site support and troubleshooting when necessary.
- Contribute to project selection and express preferences based on your interests.
- Occasionally, travel to client sites predominantly in the mid-Atlantic and northeast regions (approximately 10% travel).
- Some weekend work may be required, but it comes with additional compensation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced troubleshooting of PLCs, drives, networks, HMI, servos, software, and other controls.
- Electrical/control system design.
- Proficiency in reading and creating AutoCAD drawings.
- Interpretation and understanding of project-related documentation.
- Startup and commissioning of projects at customer sites.
- Development of technical solutions and resolution of project issues.
- Identification and mitigation of technical risks in assigned work.
- Providing high-quality technical support to customers.
- Designing and building control panels to meet various code requirements (NEC, UL508A, Functional Safety, SCCR).

Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience working as a PLC Controls Engineer/Technician.
- Proficiency in PLC controls and automation systems.
- Experience with programming Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs. Experience with other control brands (e.g., Modicon, Mitsubishi, Nidec, Omron, Siemens) is beneficial.
- Motion control experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of electrical construction is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with customers and co-workers.
- Collaborative mindset to work effectively with peers and achieve optimal solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capable of establishing and meeting schedules.
- Flexibility to occasionally work weekends.
- Willingness to travel (primarily within a 3-hour radius of Telford, PA).
- Physical ability to climb ladders and stand for extended periods occasionally.
- Must be fluent in English, possess a valid driver’s license, and have access to reliable transportation.
- Must be authorized to work in the US (no sponsorship available).
