Cornerstone Automation is a full service automation system integrator. We design, fabricate, program, install, and support automated control and monitoring systems for manufacturing, material handling and OEM applications. We serve customers throughout the mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions.

Founded in 1995, Cornerstone Automation has built a good reputation for delivering turnkey industrial automation solutions to customers large and small. We have extensive experience in control system upgrading as well as new installations. Many of our established clients value their relationship with us and call upon us whenever they require either an outside engineering firm to handle large projects or a single contract engineer.

Alan Ferrin is the manager of Cornerstone Automation. He has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and has more than 25 years of experience in process controls engineering and automation, machine design and development, systems integration, and machine repair and maintenance. He has proven success in the integration of closed loop processes, batching control, generation and cogeneration, intelligent vision systems, motor drives, HMI, SCADA systems, PCs, PLCs and networks, machine-to-machine speed and positional synchronization, motion control and electronic gearing. He has been a business owner for more than 15 years, with successful project management abilities. Alan is a Rockwell Automation extranet partner, is a member of ISA and CSIA, and attends continuing education on a regular basis.


Larry Frakes, Sales Manager at Cornerstone Automation, has more than 25 years of technical application and sales experience. Larry has worked for capital equipment manufacturers, professional service providers, and QA software solutions for the Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Cosmetic, Chemical and Polymers markets. His geography has been focused primarily in the northeast USA with considerable overseas experience in both Europe and Asia. Larry’s background includes Applications Engineering, as well as Project and Sales Management. Among his significant previous positions, Larry has served as Senior Engineer, Territory Manager, Sales Engineer and Sales Manager. Larry has experience selling to decision makers and communicating with all levels of a company.
Larry Frakes holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University in Mechanical Engineering. He has completed additional course work at Drexel and Yale Universities. He is a member of ASME and ISPE.
